The Hudson Community Food Pantry has been in Hudson, Massachusetts and serving the local community for over 25 years, and is integrated in the rich history of the small town. The local non-profit aims to find a permanent solution to end poverty and hunger. The basic philosophy: helping those in our community who may need some help or a little boost. It is very important that non-profit organization members and workers know that service is its own reward and compensation.
A poorly organized website for causes confusion for volunteers, clients and donors
First, the website was an outdated one-page website that was confusing to navigate for the three target audiences. Additionally, the local non-profit has two entrances, one for volunteers/donations and one for clients; the website did not mention which door to use and for whom. The problem was that food donations were being left outside to spoil.
Finally there was confusion with the volunteer forms. “New” volunteers were required to fill out paper applications. But that “current” volunteer sign up was on the website.
